It appears that Business Objects gives out more nuggets of information about the latest version of the Enterprise family of products. Today we can give you details about the actual released (RTM) version, good news about the the differences between the Professional and the Premium editions and much more!

For example, as of this week the Electronic Software Download site (http://businessobjects.subscribenet.com/), Business Objects' official way of downloading their software for eligable users, has the RTM (Release To Manufacturer) version of Business Objects Enterprise XI 3.0.
The product ID file of the download informs us that this is really version 12.0.0.683 of the tool which was known as Project Titan before the product launch this month.

Together with the Enterprise suite (currently only available for Java deployments) the following products have been released as seperate downloads as well:

  • Crystal Reports 2008
  • Xcelsius 2008
  • BusinessObjects BI Widgets
  • LiveOffice
  • Enterprise Client
  • Process Tracker
  • Integration Kit for SAP
  • Voyager

Some of the items in the list are part of the Premium package which means they will need to purchased as an add-on to the Professional offering. The main difference with Release 2 is that Auditing and publishing (single pass report bursting) are now part of the Professional edition! The editions are split up as follows:

  Professional Premium
 Auditing  ♦
 BI Content Search ♦ ♦
 BI Widgets ♦ ♦
 BusinessObjects Dashboard Builder  ♦
 BusinessObjects Live Office   ♦
 Central Management Console ♦ ♦

Also it is worth noting that the Software Development Kit has been laid bare on the developers area of Business Objects' website - http://diamond.businessobjects.com/developer/library. It appears that even more information has been release to developers to make the most of the XI 3.0 offering, which can only be good news.

Last but not least - at least for today - let's just mention that the documentation pages have been updated with dozens of all new XI 3.0 user and administrator guides as well. So if BI Toolkit has wet your appetite for BusinessObjects XI 3.0, there is no need to stop reading - just continue here: http://support.businessobjects.com/documentation/product_guides/default.asp
